Paperless

Today, I decided to go "paperless" - well, as paperless as I could get. Too bad going paperless doesn't also mean that along with no paper statement coming to your house, you also don't have to pay that same bill !!!!! Of course, there's always the handfull that you just can't do anything about. For me, that involves Xcel Energy, the sewer/water, and the garbage. Xcel uses a third party billing service, which I tried one time and hated. The city doesn't have online bill pay and my garbage company is a little mom/pop organization. I got fed up with the BIG garbage company that is located all over the USA. I know they are only doing their job and are working at keeping our world a little "greener" but honestly, I got sick of the threats every time a recycleable item ended up in the garbage instead of the recycle bin or vice versa.

Today was one of those "moments" for me. One of those where you stop and stare and realize that the youngest child (in this case, a grandson) doesn't quite need you like they once did anymore. Sawyer was sitting on a swing by himself. Normally, the swing moves just a little and he hounds me to come and push him. Today though, I looked out back and here he was, swinging like crazy all by himself. He hasn't figured out how to pump his little legs yet, but he did figure out that if he pulled on the chains he holds on too, he can get the swing going by himself and actually swing quite high. I stood looking out the backdoor in shock and started to cry. He's my last grandchild (just turned 3 years 5 days ago). If swinging on a swing affected me like this, what am I going to be like when he goes to school? All my grandchildren will be in school then. I have babysat them all til school and so far none of them have bothered me except for Mallory who was the first to go to school. But Sawyer is the last. He is the youngest and there won't be anymore after him. I have been babysitting grandkids for 7 years now. By the time Sawyer goes to school, it will be 9 years total. I can't imagine not having at least one grandchild with me all day long. It will be a big adjustment for me. Even now, on a day where I might not have even one, I don't quite know what to do with myself. The house just seems empty and lifeless without the sound of a child's voice. I'm sure some people will think I'm NUTS!

Dogs

I am down to one dog. Duncan (my yellow lab) has a new home and I only have my old golden retriever, Maggie. She is spoiled rotten now and thinks she has to go in the car every time I leave the house. However, my post is not about her. It's about my daughter and son-in-law's dog - Homer. He was the cutest thing when they got him and he was huge! Well, he is about 6 months old now and you should see what a monster he is! I swear every Sunday when I go to Marion to pick up Jamison and Jaxson to bring them back here for church, that dog has grown even bigger.

Play

Have you ever gone to a play? I think the last play I ever saw was when I was in high school and it was The Taming of the Shrew put on my our drama class. So, it's been a long long time. A friend of mine bought tickets to go see a play done by The Mighty Corson Art Players. They put on these plays twice a year (spring and fall) at the little white building in Corson just to the north of Brandon. The play was called "The Man Who Came to Dinner". Lonnie, was bored to tears but I loved it. It was set back in the 30's or 40's so it had all these vintage clothes. The actors were great. I don't know how they managed to memorize the amount of dialogue they did. I could never have done it and I bet none of the actors in Hollywood would have been able to do it either. I was completely amazed! In October, they will be putting on their fall production called "Morning's At Seven". The note is says about it is "this comedy dishes up a triple dose of nostalgia". I hope I can go because I sure enjoyed the one I just went too. The building is so small and people are packed into their seats like sardines in a can. That's the bad thing about it but a lot of people line up to go.

Livingroom Photos

Here are some pics of the livingroom and the quilt I made to go over the sofa (although it's not a very good one because I took it with my phone - it's in tan, cream, blue, and cranberry strips)

Change

I hate change - well most of it anyway. I like my nice safe little rut that I live in. However, I painted some of the inside of my house and then just quit because I am sick of painting and I'm having all kinds of problems with it. The blue paint won't dry hard and when I close a door, the paint sticks to the jam and tears it off. So, I figure, what's the point of continuing? I'm not going to touch up anymore and if and when we decide to move from here, I will go back and retouch up the spots and let the next owner deal with it. Of course, I haven't finished painting the rest of the house for that very reason. It's hard to continue with something that doesn't turn out right. I can say, that I love my kitchen now. I painted the cupboards a cranberry color and they look so cool. With the new laminate floor in, it looks so cozy. As far as the blue that won't dry hard on all the wood trim, I wish I hadn't used that color because I don't know if I really like it with the walls. I am NOT going to go back and repaint it a different color. Anyways, here are pics of my kitchen. That little lamp on the table is no longer there as I have a wooden bowl on there now.
